Cubs Fall To St Edward Beavers In Pork Friday Tilt

Faithful Workers Club Hosts Christmas Dinner and Craft Night

The Faithful Workers Club met Friday December 15 at the Corner Cafe for a 1 pm turkey dinner. They adjourned to Mrs Martin Hoffman Jr's home where Santa greeted them. President Noel Kealiher led the meeting with alphabet program notes and hospital gift favors.

This Saturday December 23 Santa Claus arrives in Polk at 3 00 PM with treats for children 8th grade and under. A free drawing for a boys bicycle will be held girls may register but only a boys bike will be awarded. All children are urged to register.

Gordon Nielsen 39 Dies in California Tuesday

Funeral services are planned for Gordon Nielsen 39 who died Tuesday in Manteca California. He is survived by his wife and three children. Nielsen was the son of the late Paul Nielsen of Hordville and Mrs Nielsen now of Central City and is a brother of Mrs Dwayne Hahn of Hordville. Burial will be in Central City Cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Dwight Burney have given the Polk library a copy of Nebraska's Farmer Governor a story of Dwight Burney's life while governor, Lt. governor and in the Nebraska legislature. The reproduction of news clippings, pictures, and letters was organized mainly for the Burney family and relation.
