Mrs A C Bates 88 widow of a former Methodist minister at Polk died Saturday in Kearney Nebraska. She is survived by two sons Earl of Lincoln and Arthur of Kearney and a daughter Jean of Lincoln.
Mrs Lloyd Van Housen was admitted to Aurora hospital last Wednesday and had surgery on Thursday. Mrs Jennie Coover entered Central City hospital on Saturday.

Mrs Lillian Decker, 68, died December 8, 1975, at Las Cruces General Memorial hospital after a long illness. She lived at 2300 Caballo Road Las Cruces NM. Survived by husband Edwin L. Deuker, daughter Morris Fisher of Polk Nebr, sister Mary Nieuwenhuis of Arizona, brothers Carl and Alvis Hill of Texas, and four grandchildren. Services were at Goetz Funeral Home Las Cruces with burial at Masonic Cemetery Las Cruces. Edwin Deuker’s address is 1801 East 3rd St T or C NM 87901.
The Arborville Congregational Church will present its Sunday School program Sunday evening December 21 at 7 30 at the church. Guests included Mr and Mrs Merlin Nyberg and their dinner guests Pastor and Mrs Willis Pauls daughter Sondra Dickinson and son David and Mrs Elvera Nyberg.
Mary Rempe of Osceola and current Polk County Clerk has been named Associate County Judge for Polk County. The appointment fills the post left by Judge Eldon Johnson who resigns effective December 31.
Santa Claus arrives Saturday afternoon in Polk after a 1:30 p.m. free movie in the Community Hall. A 3 p.m. drawing awards twenty $5 gift certificates. Registration for the drawing opens at 10 a.m. in the hotel lobby. The Community Club sponsors the final activity.

The Polk High Cubs improved to 2-1 with a 56 43 win over the Silver Creek Tigers. Tom Carlstrom led with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Randy Branting Brian Bedient and Monty Hudson each added 10. Dana Anderson grabbed 20 boards and Polk dominated the fourth quarter after a 32 21 halftime edge. The Cubs play Genoa tonight and host St Edward Friday.
Lanny Tunks, son of Mr and Mrs Leo Tunks of Polk, was baptised December 14 1975 at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton. Sponsors were Mr and Mrs Ray Lietker of Alma. Dinner followed at the Tunks home with guests including Mr and Mrs Clarence Kohtz, Alan of Hampton, Mrs Donna Tunks and Craig of Central City, Mr and Mrs Larry Tunks and bdys of Central City, and Donna Litker of Alma.
Mr and Mrs Randy Fowler of Hordville announce the birth of daughter Misty Jo on Tuesday December 9 at Central City Hospital. Misty weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces. Grandparents are Merlin Guilford and Gene Fowler of Hordville.
Sunday afternoon open house honored Hulda Sagehorn on her 80th birthday drawing about 100 guests. Four sons from Colorado and Nebraska welcomed guests as activities included cake shaped like a Bible and Christmas centerpiece. Sagehorn, lifelong Zion Lutheran Church member, has four sons, many grandchildren, and stepchildren. post-event Christmas supper followed.
