About 95 farmers and business men attended the Commercial Club gathering in the I C C F dining room Monday evening. Frank Davis welcomed visitors while Floyd Merchant spoke for the farmers. Corporal C W Cowenziel of the Nebraska State Highway Patrol led an hour long talk on highway safety with moving pictures.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary of Mabel Putman and T A Stevens
On December 12, 1899 Miss Mabel Putman married T. A. Stevens at a church east of the Stevens home. Forty relatives celebrated the fortieth anniversary at the Stevens home with yellow and white decor. Mrs Stevens wore her wedding dress and handkerchief. Mr Stevens wore the same coat. Rev Longacre spoke, readings and songs followed, gifts were given, and the church where they wed is now part of Polk Mill.

Emil Theodore Englund born June 22 1882 near Stromsburg Nebraska died December 3 1939 at Omaha hospital age 57 years 5 months 12 days. He lived in Stromsburg Polk and Chappell and worked in carpentry plumbing and dairy farming. He joined Baptist church then Methodist and belonged to the Odd Fellows. Survived by wife Anna four sons Ralph Wallace Arthur and Russell daughter Dorothy Wells two grandchildren and a sister. Funeral held at Polk Baptist Church with burial LaClede cemetery Brauer Funeral Home in charge.

Robert S. Glasser born March 30 1867 in Wurtemburg Pennsylvania died December 7 1939 near Polk at age 72 after a stroke.
