Teresa Bedient finalist for Block and Bridle Queen at Nebraska

Teresa Bedient daughter of Mr and Mrs Owen Bedient has been named a finalist for Block and Bridle Queen at the University of Nebraska. Voters determine finalists during the club ham sale running November 10 to December 18 with the winner to be announced in January. Bedient a sophomore in Arts and Sciences and Sigma Kappa member also earns a National 4-H Club Congress delegate spot and has a long record of 4-H honors and leadership including 4-H Congress trips and York County 4-H Queen recognition. She graduated Polk High School in 1969.

Jeff Wurtz Wins Last Football Contest

Jeff Wurtz of Clarks and Judge Knute Johnson of Osceola tied for fewest misses at five. Wurtz won the tie by predicting a 38 to 18 Nebraska score. the actual game finished 28 to 21, while Johnson had 52 to 17. Most contestants missed 7 to 9 games.

Bizzy Bee 4-H Club Seeks Sewing Skills

News from reporter Virginia Miller notes the Bizzy Bee 4 H group met at Jodie Saylors on November 27 at 2 00 PM with five members. Lesson focused on basting and prepping a sewing project. Next meeting set for the Kennel home for a Christmas party.

Bridal Shower for Mrs Douglas Filter Held in Polk

A miscellaneous bridal shower was hosted by Mrs Robert Stohl and Mrs Lloyd Van Housen at Trinity Lutheran Church parlors in Polk on Saturday afternoon November 28. Eighteen guests attended and bridal games followed by opening gifts. The color pink featured in decorations and serving table. Lunch was served with Mrs Calvin Crow pouring coffee and Miss Karen Rasmussen dipping punch.

Celebrates 89th Birthday At Mrs Flodman Home

A Sunday gathering at Mrs. Julia Flodman’s home marked her mother’s 89th birthday. Guests included Curtis Flodman, Lawrence Lind of Stromsburg, Virgil Flodman of Central City, Ina Hoekstra and Jerry, Walter Stohl, Carroll Flodman and Robin, and C. M. Fredericksen. The group anticipated a Stromsburg dinner. A lunch followed and Mrs Flodman received a gift.
