The Rev Dr John J T Kim, a Korea native, has moved to Polk to serve as minister of the United Methodist Church of Polk and Marquette. Fatal Accident Claims Lincoln Man at Graf ton Grain Elevator
Richard Branting 22 son of Mr and Mrs Mervin Branting of Lincoln sustained fatal injuries in a Graf ton construction accident at a grain elevator Tuesday. Survivors include his wife and baby of York. Leo Wurtz and wife Verbena were injured in a head on Denver Colorado crash Monday with relatives from Polk traveling to be with them.

Polk Bean Days Near as September Weekend Approaches
Polk Bean Days prep steps up with events planned for September 4 and 5. A Friday Teen Dance committee includes Arnold Neuhaus and Harold Anderson among others. Raffle tickets on September 5 handled by Paul Stevens and others. Bike raffle sign ups run hourly from 11:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. The Polk Garden Club hosts a flower and vegetable show in the former Home Service Store building with public viewing Friday 2 to 4 p.m. Club members will clean the building Friday. Booster trip departs August 27 from Polk Community Hall.

Hot Lunch Program Starts September 1 At Polk Schools
The Polk Public School hot lunch program begins the new school year September 1 with Mrs. Laura Bolton entering her 17th year as manager. Returning assistants are Mrs. Ethel Ostrander, Mrs. Minnie Miers, and Mrs. Carol Nelson. Prices remain first-semester same as last year: students 35c, adults 40c. Week tickets cost 1.75 for students and 2.00 for adults. Blocks of 20 days are 7.00 and 8.00. Semester tickets: students 29.75, adults 34.00. Milk lunch for K to 3rd grade and double milk with meals: 1.80 paid in advance.
