Elevators for Farms Grow Common and Versatile
Farmers increasingly use all purpose farm elevators both portable and stationary to lift baled hay car corn root crops shelled corn and grain. Costs vary but a five horsepower motor elevating 1000 bushels uses roughly 0.1 to 5 kilowatt hours of power depending on setup and height.
Small Farm Units Are Big Implement Buyers
A survey by the Anti-Friction Bearing Manufacturers association finds two thirds of the 1.5 billion dollars spent on agricultural implements this year go to small one family farms. By 1950 four million farms are expected to produce 33 percent more than six million farms before the war.

Korosealer plastic fly ponds let farmers and city dwellers create a lily pool without stone or concrete basins. The pond folds flat for indoor storage in winter and can serve as a wading pool for children or a duck pond.
Weevil Damage in Grain Traced to Unclean Bins
Purdue entomologists trace nearly all weevily grain to unclean bins. Prevention rests on cleaning granaries and spraying with DDT. infestations persist from year to year if grain is not properly cleaned and stored.
