Approval Granted To Nebraska Telephone Rate Hikes
The Nebraska State Railway Commission on August 4 authorized Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph to raise its rates. Local exchange service will rise on August 6, with most long distance calls within Nebraska increasing the same day. The company reports an about 8.5 percent increase in gross revenue beyond the originally requested amount.

Hail Storm Damages Corn Across Wide Polk Area
A severe hail storm crossed about six to seven miles long and a mile wide, striking Polk county farms.
