Centenary of the Stourbridge Lion in Honesdale Celebrated
The 100th anniversary of the Stourbridge Lion signals the August observance in Honesdale Pennsylvania. The first practical American locomotive ran on August 9 1829 under Horatio Allen on a three mile Carbondale track despite later issues with iron rails. The feature includes a parade and a monument to the Lion and Horatio Allen while tracing America’s railroad rise from three miles to a vast network of rails and engines.
