Merchants sponsor Dollar Day in Polk on Wednesday April 26 with sales on spring merchandise plus a commission sale of livestock and farm items on a vacant lot south of the mill. The day also includes Polk High School Field Day and an evening fire prevention lecture with films at Viking Hall. Admission is free.
The Junior-Senior banquet held April 13 in the high school auditorium featured a penthouse style roof garden with blue white decor. Eldon Anderson and Merlin Wright provided Hawaiian guitar music as Doris Whitacre and others tended a formal three course supper under stars and skyscraper silhouettes.
The notice lists church events across Swede Plains Osceola and surrounding areas. It covers worship times at M and E, Carl F Juergensen's Lutheran services, Talent Quest at Walther League in Seward, and activities at Free Methodist Free Mission and Methodist churches plus Baptist and mid week prayer. It also notes a civic election remark about Chicago citizens and a call to born again citizenship.
The Tie-Right Rope Club met Friday evening at the Anderson home for an achievement program. Members displayed two cards of knots and halters which were judged by the members. County Agent Howard Petregon and Miss Jean Backlund of Osceola attended as visitors.

The program featured the Polk County Women’s Chorus directed by Miss Olive McBeth. Polk County has eleven clubs and seeks three more to enable two Leaders Training days. interested clubs should contact the agricultural agent’s office.
County reports say pasture furrows filled with rainwater improved seed coverage across seven grass varieties including switchgrass sand dropseed side oat grama western wheat big bluestem blue grama and brome. Berck and Deeter confirm full seed coverage while Fredrickson notes runoff was limited. Attendees invited to three demonstrations to observe results.
Members of the Methodist church choir and friends held a handkerchief shower and farewell party for Mrs Gordon Eno in the church parlors after rehearsal. Mrs Eno was active in church affairs and will be greatly missed as the Eno family moved to a new home early in the week.

Polk Fire Department was called to the Ewak Klingsporn farm south of town at 2 30 Saturday morning where a pile of threshed corn fodder burned and threatened the buildings due to wind. Passers by awakened Mr Klingsporn and called the alarm. Officials believe sparks from a straw stack started the fire Friday afternoon. No other damage occurred.

Leonard Miller resigns as White Rose manager as the station prepares to be torn down for highway widening. Clair McCormick adds warehouse duties and drives the gasoline truck. Sterling Nelson and family celebrate a fortieth wedding anniversary in Polk. Kenneth Myers fractures a leg after a farm accident and returns home from Stromsburg hospital. Jeanette Rudeen has a needle fragment removed after four years lodged in her hand, the piece magnetized before extraction.
Polk County records show Eddie Larson listed as auctioneer with contact numbers 138 and 156 for services.
Polk area school board seeks to capture vandals after milk bottles shattered east entrance doors and an inner door, and a brick damaged an upstairs window. Damage estimated at 20 dollars. County Sheriff Gunnan Peterson to assist as several suspects are questioned and an arrest expected.
A home talent Negro Minstrel Show for the Pork Boy Scout troupe and the Junior Teague Baseball Team is planned at the High School Auditorium on Friday April 28. Oscar Sundberg serves as Interlocutor with supporting cast M Wright Eldon Anderson Bruce Cowgill Billy and Fredrick Allison and Max Peterson. A small admission will be charged.
The Hastings District Conference of the Methodist Church meets April 20 and 21 at Osceola Methodist Church with devotions, sermons, reports, and addresses. Notable speakers include Wm. Kilburn, Charles E. Schofield, and Dr. E. Pfoutz with sessions on laymen's association and worship. Public invited.
