A new Order of Eastern Star chapter was instituted in Polk Saturday evening April 14. A dinner for 67 was served by the Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion Hall before the ceremony conducted by Louis E B Houser with a slate of officers led by Margaret Jones and Kenneth Stewart. Attendees from multiple Nebraska towns marked the gathering. the local chapter named Willanna with 30 members.

New Warehouse Under Construction by Fredrickson Implement
Work began Monday on a new all steel and brick warehouse by Fredrickson Implement Co between Johnson Chevrolet and Green Clothing and Appliance. The 70 by 60 foot building will fill a long vacant open space on Main Street and include a new sidewalk along the site.

Anna Anderson Lind 83 of Polk Nebraska died April 7 1951 after a long illness. Born in Sweden May 7 1867 she lived in Omaha Mead Swede Home Swede Plains Polk and Folk before settling in Polk. Survived by daughters Mrs Walter Nyberg and Mrs Clarence Larson and Mrs Ames Lind plus 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral April 19 at Swede Plain church conducted by Rev Nels Pearson with a quartet and organist Mrs Willard Adelson. Interment Swede Plain Cemetery.

Woman's Club Gifts Fire Place for Polk City Park

Polk Holds Clean Up Days April Twenty and Twenty One
The Board of Trustees designates Friday April 20 and Saturday April 21 as Clean up Days in Polk. Two hauling trucks will take trash to the city dump. Trash must be placed in receptacles near alleys for pickup and no bonfires on paved streets to protect brickwork.
