Cubs take second in Henderson meet behind hosts

Polk Cubs finish runner up to Henderson in a tri meet with Harvard at Henderson on April 6. Dick Sealey led Polk with 8.4 points, Dick also ran 10.6 in the hundred and 18 ft 944 in broad jump. Senior Dem Sealey won the 440 and Don Hanquist took the half mile in 2 14 3. Ten Cub players scored.

Immanuel Ladies Aid Met Wednesday

The Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid met on Wednesday afternoon April 6 with congregation guests present. Rev. Oplinger led the opening topic on Teachings of the Lord's Supper. A brief business meeting followed by Mrs. Ervin Blase. A colored film of the 1965 Rose Bowl parade was shown. Lunch was served by several hostesses.

Missing Navy Commander in Pacific Air Crash Shocks Family

Navy Commander Ernest Gleim, in his thirties and a Korea duty veteran, is among the crew lost when an anti submarine patrol plane from the Bradshaw crashed into the Pacific about 185 miles south of San Diego during a military exercise. His wife and family live in the San Francisco area. his parents near Osceola and Mrs. Dorothy Gleim’s parents nearby were notified.

Boxer Baby Beef Club Meets at Polk Community Hall

The Boxer Baby Beef Club gathered in Polk Community Hall on a Tuesday evening, April 5, with twelve members present. Officers will attend an officers training clinic in Osceola on April 16. Bob Dittmer and Ed Dobberstein led the meeting and lunch was provided by Mrs Rolland Stromberg and Mrs Horace Stevens.

Easter Breakfast Service Attended by Polk Youth

The Youth Fellowship groups from four churches met at Polk Methodist Church for an early Easter breakfast and service. Rev. Harold Koelling delivered the message as prayers and songs filled the program. Women served the breakfast: Mrs. James Lindburg, Mrs. Eddie Saylor, Mrs. Richard Sealey Jr., and Mrs. Henry Kisler.
