Y M C A Day In Laurens Features Watts Hansen

Sunday was Y M C A Day in Laurens with County Secretary Glasener State Secretary Hansen and W H Watts from Pocahontas as speakers. Watts led the morning pulpit at the Christian Church and the afternoon men’s meeting, Hansen spoke at the M E church during the evening service. A temporary committee Swanson Norton Wood Claussen Brown and Clanton was formed to aid the local Y M C A program. Plans include a vigorous men’s program and possibly a Des Moines Gospel Team as part of the association efforts.

A church society invites all members and friends to join a welcoming gathering featuring fun food and music. The event includes readings recitations games and a free will offering.

Woman's Club Meets with Mrs Shaner in February Session

The Woman's Club gathered with Mrs. Shaner on February 26. The calendar program proceeded as planned. Mrs. Norton presented a paper on how our Young People should Spend Sunday, followed by Mrs. Shoemaker's discussion on why our Daughters Should be Educated in Home Making. A paper titled Our Boys was read by Mrs. McNee, and members enjoyed a club letter from Mrs. E D Anderson detailing Idaho experiences.

Wedding at Gust Hackerson Home Unites Olga Hackerson to Alben Peterson

A pretty home wedding occurred at the Gust Hackerson residence west of town on Wednesday afternoon at four o clock. Miss Olga Hackerson wed Alben Peterson in a ceremony performed by Rev. Hansen of Pomeroy. Agda Hansen served as bridesmaid and Albert Hackerson was best man. A wedding supper followed for about 100 guests.

Local Couple Plans East Honeymoon Then Settle in Gust Johnson Home

Invited guests note Mr Peterson of Dixon Lumber Company at the local office is steady and dependable. Miss Hackerson is one of our cultured young ladies. After a honeymoon to the east they will reside in the Gust L Johnson residence in the southern part of town. Heartfelt best wishes extended.

Farmers Trading Company reports 140 percent profit

Annual meeting at the opera house last Saturday showed a prosperous year with a 140 percent profit. A 20 percent dividend was defeated. profits placed in surplus fund about 150 percent of capital. Officers re-elected. directors renewed. Readout totals cash received $366,681.16 and grain/tile/twine production figures listed.

Poole to Lecture on The Yellow Jacket for 25 Cents

The Yellow Jacket lecture course faced a $60 shortfall after a poor weather run. To rescue finances, the lecture bureau offers Dr. Frederic E. Poole for March 24 at 25 cents per seat, with his eastern China expertise and Chautauqua pedigree. The program links Poole’s monologue to a stage rendition of The Yellow Jacket, praised as a striking portrayal of Chinese ideas.

Last Lord's Day At Y P C E Services

A fine attendance at all services with thirty young people at Y P C E. Charles Gensel of Davenport addressed the Bible School as a friend of the Henrys. Elmer Larson's Des Moines letter says he played in the Central church orchestra last Sunday. The Y P C E program is set for 8 30 Wednesday evening followed by a social time. Everyone is invited to attend. The Y P S C E enjoyed a delightful evening at Mrs. Louis Lueck's home with strong representation and promising future spirit.
