Truma Lee Linebaugh Crowned Queen at Strawberry Days

Truma Lee Linebaugh was named Queen of Utah Strawberry Days at a ceremony in the First Ward chapel. She was crowned by Chamber of Commerce President K Adams as City Councilman Eldon Johnson acting for Mayor Ed Roberts placed the official title Miss Pleasant Grove on Shuree Smith. Attendants include Bonnie Bullock and Lora Lee Shields with Shawna Noble and Carolyn Huntsman as escorts. All six will ride on floats in the June 16 Pleasant Grove parade.

Garden Club Plans June Straw berry Day Flower Show

Pleasant Grove Garden Club will sponsor its annual Straw berry Day Flower Show on June 16 at Pleasant Grove High School Lunch Room. Entries run 6:00 to 10:00 am judged 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. show open 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Sweepstakes prizes in each section, programs at local grocers. Assisting organizers are Maxine West and Beth McNees along with Ivadell Tomlinson. everyone invited to attend.

Pleasant Grove Little Leaguers opened 1955 league play with two Monday games as Second-Fourth Ward Dodgers beat Grove Ward Yankees and First-Fifth Ward Giants defeated Third-Sixth Ward Indians. By June 9 standings show Second-Fourth 2-0, First-Fifth 1-0, Third-Sixth 1-1, Grove 0-1, Lindon 0-1, Manila 0-1. a Pony League game is set for Thursday at 5 80 with Springville.

Lindon Recreation Program Outlined for Youth This Summer

Lindon recreation for children aged 7 to 13 is set through the Scera program at Orem this summer. Officials Swenson Vietor Vadund and Ver Christianson say activities include sports, crafts, and swimming. Buses depart Linden House each Wednesday at 9 00 am. Bus fare is 15 cents with 10 cents extra for swimming and towel fees. The program begins Wednesday June 15.

Fifty Colorful Floats To Enter 1955 Parade

The annual parade plan calls for fifty floats eight bands and many organizations in a 10:00 a.m. Thursday procession led by Ray Mills and the Strawberry Days committee chair Vernon J Ahman. Schools from Pleasant Grove Springville Lincoln American Fork Lehi Mt Pleasant and possibly Olympus will send entries along with the 23rd Army Band Fort Douglas and Magna Drum and Bugle Corps. Two more parades are slated June 16 and a stockman's parade June 17 with five locals honored for national distinction: Mrs Lavina Fugal Merrill N Warnick J Arta Adams Leo P Harvey and Prof Grant Richards. The route runs from the High School north on First East to Center Street to Main South on Main to LeRoy Ash Service Station and back to the High School.

Lehi Woman Named Queen of Strawberry Days Rodeo

Loraine Spencer of Lehi was crowned Queen of Pleasant Grove strawberries days rodeo after a judging of horsemanship and personality by Associated Riding Clubs of Utah. Attendants are Mavis Ford Wallsburg and Gloria Carter Provo. The queen and attendants will ride in three Strawberry Days parades and lead the Grand Entry at the rodeos June 16 and 17, with public appearances statewide to promote the event.

Von Holdaway Elected District Governor of Lions

Lindon Lions charter member Von Holdaway was elected Governor of Lions International District 28A at Cedar City during a district convention last week. He has served Lindon Lions since 1951 and will attend the International Lions Convention in Atlantic City in June. The next Lindon Lions meeting Friday June 24 will host LeRoy Griffin of American Folk as guest speaker. The club also sponsors a boys’ training program this year.
