Strawberry Day Program Goes On In Pleasant Grove
Utah's first 1937 Strawberry Day features band concerts in city venues, a 9:30 a.m. parade with 125 floats, a noon free berries event at Strawberry Gardens, a 6 p.m. rodeo at Ball Park, and dancing by major orchestras. Prizes total hundreds of dollars, with radio broadcasts from KSL to follow.

Strawberry Day promises a big city celebration on May 8
Ten Years Ago Now notes the sixth annual Strawberry Day scheduled for next Wednesday May 8 in the city. An estimated twelve to fifteen thousand people are expected to attend with plans in place to entertain them. A Pleasant Grove homecoming appeal invites residents and relatives to visit, and newcomers to return annually for the big celebration.

Car hits pole. cows and dog killed as wires energize area
A car driven by Abraham Gregg of Salt Lake struck a utility pole on State highway near the new highway entrance Friday morning. Mrs. Gregg suffered severe cuts and bruises and was taken to American Fork hospital. Dense dust at the intersection was blamed for the accident.

Church news notes conjoint Ward meetings Sunday evening and a mothers and daughters social on Thursday June 8. Work on the Third ward meeting house began Tuesday under painter Fred Culmer as part of the ward’s security program. Andrew Jensen will lecture at Salt Lake City in the Andrew Jensen building with members traveling by bus and private cars to attend the 1 00 p.m. event.

Decoration Day Visitors and Local Relatives Gather in Pleasant Grove
Pleasant Grove residents and visitors from Salt Lake Murray Provo and nearby towns converged for Decoration Day. Local families hosted relatives from Copperton Bingham and Helper while Scouts Camped near Saratoga Springs. The Chamber of Commerce held a final meeting with Lee Peterson hosting and several birthday and funeral observances noted in the community roundup.

Funeral Services Conducted For Francis Blair
Funeral services for Francis Albert Blair were held May 27 in the St. George area. Speakers included James McAtcham, Mayor Albert Miller, and Patriarch George W. Worthen. Blair, born August 26, 1867 in St. George, was a farmer and freighter who lived in Provo, Pleasant Grove, and finally settled in Pleasant Grove with his wife Louis Booth. He was survived by eight of ten children and nineteen grandchildren, along with a sister and several half siblings.
