Lindon Community Fair will give away three calves to boost youth livestock entries. Exhibitors under 11 enter by number, drawn from a hat for the winner. Donated by Maxfield Bros., Alroy Gillman, and Owen Reed Halliday, with a gala parade and pet exhibit to add frontier color.
Jaycees held their August gathering at the Alpine Grill with Judge Joseph Nelson as speaker. He addressed democracy and liberty in the United States and urged public support for safety initiatives and community involvement in a forthcoming trap shoot.

The Cadmus Club will sponsor an annual summer reception featuring Warren Kirk in a recital at the First Ward Chapel on August 28. Kirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. 8. A. Kirk, has studied widely and is recognized as an accomplished vocalist, with friends invited to attend.
The Utah governor responds to the Jaycees letter about hazardous Highway 91 conditions. He forwards the issue to the State Road Commission and invites continued public input, stressing interest in highway problems and constructive criticism. Newly married couple Elya Neilson and Orlo Pierce were celebrated at a reception in the Second Ward Recreation Hall after their Thursday evening wedding. Miss Leone Carlson recites wedding vows to Robert D Brown in Pleasant Grove with ceremony at the Third Ward Relief Society room. Reception followed as guests, family, and friends celebrated. later plans for the Pleasant Grove Community Fair on September 13 were announced with committee assignments and events in the High School area.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Third Ward LDS chapel for John Phillips who died Sunday in Glenwood Colorado. Bishop Calvin W. in charge, speakers included Bishop Walker and former Bishop Nell Page. Graveside prayer offered at Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Phillips was born February 11, 1867 in Whitewright Texas, a fruit grower by trade. Surviving are three daughters, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his wife Eliza Jacob.
Three hundred sixteen members of the N. Peter and Wim Christ iansen families gathered at Saratoga Sunday for a joyful reunion and picnic. A business meeting named the committee for the event with Owen Christiansen and Violet Wyrbrir wa among those chosen. gifts were given to all living children of Peter and Wai Cheteitanseh. Family members traveled from California Itsh and other points, and Ralph Smile, Mary Varney, Christ ipnaon, and Vila Lone led the organizing committee.
Gerald Belliston, manager of Christensen's Store in Pleasant Grove, spent days in Denver buying merchandise for the local shop. His family joined for a combined pleasure and business trip, with two days spent in Salt Lake City for further buying. Remodeling is advancing satisfactorily and will offer top brands at competitive prices, with Belliston noting the store’s purchasing power ensures quality goods at or below prices found in larger Utah centers.
About 500 attended the stake summer primary festival featuring a playlet titled Summer Primary in Review. Participants wore homemade costumes, sang, danced, and shared stories from studies of the Scandinavian world, the British Isles, Pacific islands, and American Indian missions. A parade, fish ponds, and handwork exhibits followed. The stake primary leadership thanks all helpers.
The S. W. Hilton family enjoyed a pleasant two day gathering last week. On Sunday all met at the Battle Creek canyon home and Monday evening they shared supper and games in American Fork canyon. Attending were Mr and Mrs S W Hilton, Mr Mavis Hilton and Samy of Tar Ban, Mr and Mrs Abel Rivnk and children, Mr and Mrs Don Hilton of Lehi, Mr and Mrs Robert Hilton and children, Miss Huguene Hilton and baby, and Floyd Hilton.
Aline Mulgins, daughter of Mr and Mrs Bloyer Lunher ford, announces her engagement to Thomas J Hadison, son of Mr and Mrs Day Hadden of Payson. The marriage will be solemnized at East Lake Lodge on Tuesday August 22.

Funeral services for two year old Dale Armitstead son of Lloyd and Norma Maag were held Saturday at the Grove ward chapel with Bishop H S Walker in charge. The service included musical numbers by Warren Kirk and Miss Joann Whitehead and addressed the themes of immortality and eternal progression. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with pallbearers, and survivors include his parents sister LaVerne brother Lyn and grandparents Herbert Armitstead Pleasant Grove Henry Maag Provo.
The newly organized Sule Special Sberest Square Dance group held a planning meeting in the Third Ward amusement hall. George Smith and wife presided with Harald Exitkeon as dance director and instructor, Merrill Warnick as stake president. A special gathering is set for August 19 at Lindon Ward Hall for membership drive and program details.
