The Pleasant Grove centennial celebration on September 18 1960 invites all citizens to join a three day event featuring livestock exhibits 4 H and Future Farmers displays and home arts. The Daughters of Pioneer Hall preserve town history with relics and photos while organizers call for fruit crops dairy stock and handiwork entries.

Fireside Meeting Honors Brigham Young Monument

A successful fireside by Grave ward M Men and Gleaners at Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Harvey’s home featured Mrs. Edith Young Boothe granddaughter of Brigham Young recounting the dedication of the Brigham Young monument in Whittingham Utah and Washington DC. She shared memories of the Lion House and her grandmother. Joyce Evans chaired the event with H. Walker guiding the Gleaners. Refreshments were served by Helen Creasy and Verlene Winters.

The first meeting of the Thy anogos Stake Golden Gleaners was held at Mrs. Leah Jean Christofferson's home. Mrs She ena Warnick delivered a warm inspirational talk followed by refreshments and committee plans for organizing a Golden Gleaner Chorus. Hider Eden Bloomaghst will be the speaker at a special meeting in the Nigh scow Morium om Saburies on August 26. Bloomghict will discuss How Near Are We To The Last Day. Lindon Community Fair closes entries by 9:00 AM September 2 with a miniature parade at 9:00 AM before Joe Wadley’s home. Stock, crafts, pastries, flowers, and pets judged from 10:00 AM. Hamburgers served 12:42 to 1:30 PM. Horse pulling contests at 1:30 PM. Pig and three calves drawn at 4:00 PM. Fair queen vote counted August 25 with parade attendants. 4 H Achievement Exercises Held Friday Pleas ant Grove

Pleasant Grove, Lindon and Manila 4-H clubs held achievement exercises Friday in the First Ward recreation hall. Demonstrations covered measuring flour, packaging for frozen lockers, and food and clothing projects. Awards included blue ribbons for Manila third year foods and first year clothing, with plans announced for the Centennial fair next month.

Mrs Arnold Hendrickson hosted the Friendship Club at a luncheon with roses on a decorated table. Afterward the ladies played Canasta with prizes to Mrs Milton Adamson and Mrs Reuben Tomlinson, and consolation to Mrs C B Clark. Other attendees included several named members. Next meeting planned with Mrs Reuben Tomlinson on September 4.

Region Three Football Season Opens September 1

Region 3 gridiron action begins September 1 with Pleasant Grove High School leading about 60 players in early practice. The Vikings face an early non league date September 15 at Union High School Roosevelt, as the region splits into Northern and Southern divisions for a playoff path to state semifinals.
