Fifty-Eight Indian Skulls Unearthed Near Jones Property

The skulls of Indians, likely pre-Columbian, were partly unearthed at the W. D. Jones site. Professors Ellis and Gilder oversaw excavation and preservation was planned in Lincoln. Some skulls and one nearly complete skeleton were moved for restoration, while speculation tied findings to ancient burial customs and hillside drainage aiding preservation.

Burlington Band Concert Pleases Despite Cold Attendee Drop

The Burlington band gave a well rendered program at the high school grounds though cold weather reduced attendance. Pieces from The Prince of Pilsen The Forge in the Forest and The Wedding of the Fairies pleased the crowd and the final note urged winter concerts at the Parmele theater to keep musicians benefiting the band and entertaining the public.

Auto Upsets Near Weeping Water

Three men F H Gorder John Noell and D Cheek had a minor auto accident near Manley while en route to Louisville and Plattsmouth. Their Ford rolled onto its side at a dust thick corner, causing windshield and fender damage but no serious injuries. They collected oil, continued to Plattsmouth and back without further mishap.
