The steamboat Omaha formerly Lora, with a sand dredge in tow, encountered sandbars while ascending toward the mouth of the Platte. It left St. Louis on April 23 with six hundred freight pieces for Kansas City and Omaha, piloted by Capt. Massa. After unloading, it will return to St. Joseph to attach a pavillion order barge for Omaha excursions this summer.

Steamer Omaha’s rough passage and Winscott death notice
The steamer Omaha failed to set a record run as it stuck on a sandbar four miles above here and spent Saturday freeing itself. In Plattsmouth, Joseph Winscott, age 77, died at his home after a long residence in the city. He was born January 14, 1830 in Owensburg Kentucky and survived by three sons and three daughters. Funeral arrangements are pending with services planned at the residence of George Winscott tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.

Boatmen complete 45 mile trip from Greenwood to Springfield

Peculiar Death Near Syracuse Involving Fire and Buggy
William Frank, an old settler living with his daughter near Syracuse, died after a smoking pipe ignited his clothing and buggy. The body was found two miles south of Syracuse with a head wound, clothing burned, and the horse fleeing the blaze. The watch stopped at 1 10, indicating the accident occurred about one ten.

Funeral of W M Thomas reflects farming life and faith
William Morton Thomas born September 15 1869, son of Samuel L and Sarah A Thomas, lived west of Plattsmouth. He married Grace Taylor on November 20 1901 and died leaving a wife, parents, two brothers and many relatives. A dairy farmer and stockman, he was first Wisconsin dairy school graduate from the state and served as S L Thomas's private secretary during his senate term. He and Grace joined the Plattsmouth Christian church in 1905. The service featured M W A ritual, church choir, and a large funeral turnout.

Mrs Elizabeth Lloyd Dies in Omaha and Funeral Planned
Miss Elizabeth Lloyd died at her Omaha home last Saturday evening. Her remains will be brought to Plattsmouth for burial tomorrow. She long lived in this city. Her son Hammond arrived to arrange burial. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon with the cottage leaving M I depot at 2 47 PM from Omaha. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery. All are invited.
