Born in Plattsmouth in February 1868 he spent most of his life in Nebraska except for months in California and lived with cousin Fred Etheridge after returning from California. He is survived by a sister Mrs John Dutton of Kansas City and two brothers Roy and Myron McElwain, who had preceded him in death.
