The county spelling contest at the district courtroom drew one of the largest crowds to date. Miss Alpha Peterson organized it with R W Eaton directing. Fort Crook May Be Training Camp Site for Jobless
Fort Crook and nearby Fort post may be chosen for a national unemployed youth training camp program. The Senate approved a 21 million dollar emergency measure to mobilize over 88 thousand youths for twelve months of housing feeding drilling and training in existing C M T C camps. Anniversary of Last Execution in Cass County
March 1 marks the thirty eighth anniversary of the first and only legal execution in Cass County. Harry Hill was hanged for the murder of Maites Akeson at his Weeping Water farm on November 1, 1893, with Benwell Denwell Kearns as his accomplice. The execution occurred March 1, 1895, in the jail yard, drawing thousands of spectators from across the county.

The funeral for the late N K Peoples was held at 9 30 this morning at the family home on North street. Rev C O Troy led services and read the life sketch. Omaha Lady Killed in Train-Wreck Crash
Mrs. Frank Wilcox, of Omaha, was killed when a train struck the auto she rode with her husband at Thirtieth and Boyd near the Belt Line. The couple were taken to Covenant hospital where she died soon after. Mr. Wilcox was improving the next day.
