A double ring ceremony Sunday June 18 at 2:30 at St Pauls Evangelical Church united Miss Dorothea Marie Siemoneit and Mr Emil Frang Schmidt in the sight of Rev Samuel G Schick. Attendants wore pastel gowns as organist Leona Meizinger and soloist Mrs Ray Herring provided music. A reception followed at the bride's country home with a three tier cake and many gifts as out of town guests from Omaha Chicago and Elkhorn attended.

The past week brought increased moisture culminating in 2.35 inches of rain last night with generous showers through the morning across eastern Nebraska south of the Platte River. A late storm opened near 9 pm and drenched the area, aiding crops and cooling weather, with minimal damage despite street runoff and flooded creeks like Weeping Water. The city sewer extension reduced overflow, and water from southern city areas flowed along Chicago Avenue to Main Street briefly before receding.
