Reunion of Cook Pioneer Family Draws 100 Members
The Cook family descendants of Joseph and Mary Cook held their annual reunion at the E. W. Vallery home near Murray with Elks from Plattsmouth attending. Organized by T. W. Vallery and family, the event featured a band concert, elaborate picnic tables, and stories of frontier life. Notable attendees included George Cook of Alvo and Henry Vallery, a former Alvo child friend. The gathering traced back to the 1856 wagon train that brought the Cooks from Ohio to Four Mile Creek near Mynard, Nebraska, and highlighted enduring Cass County ties and friendships across generations.
