Nebraska's share of the public works fund outlined
Washington reports that Nebraska's portion of the public works fund could reach about 70 million dollars excluding highways. State Tax Commissioner Smith and Congressman Shallenberger described a plan with 30 percent federal funding and a Nebraska 70 percent match, with a deputy administrator assigned to the state. A governor's committee would select projects for federal review, and the final choices rest with the federal construction department. If a state cannot raise its share, the government may advance the full amount and lease the project for repayment.
