Look Over the Proposed Cemetery Highway
A city and chamber of commerce committee toured the west part of town to inspect a cemetery road to Oak Hill. They reviewed current routes via Fifteenth and Oak and a Locust Street option, noting necessary grading drainage and a grinding plan to avoid Missouri Pacific grade crossings. The group discussed graveling districts funded by benefiting areas and the high cost versus need of a safer, all weather funeral processional route.

Gravel grading under way to ready Louisville roads
Louisville precinct crews are grading main highways in all directions to prepare for surfacing. The south line road into Louisville has been widened and brought to first class condition with safer turns. Eastward grading widens corners and builds up roadbeds to stay dry year round. The west road to South Bend is graded nicely and will be a good traveled highway when finished. Surfacing planned uses gravel and crushed rock, with crushed rock proving more durable on hills.
