Narrow escape as auto bursts into flames near station
Hermond Kriskey narrowly escaped serious injuries when his Ford roadster caught fire on the highway near the Missouri Pacific depot after gasoline spilled from a two gallon can. Kriskey and bystander Raymond Hayen fought the blaze as the car rolled toward Elm Street, Hayen burning his hand stopping the car before the fire could fully engulf the roadster. Firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames and save part of the vehicle. Kriskey had previously survived a Omaha streetcar wreck and sustains injuries from that incident.
