Commercial club meeting draws city leaders and plans

Friday's gathering drew broad attendance from Burlington shop workers and city officials. Attendees discussed train schedule changes, highway improvements, street narrowing to 28 feet, and urged legislation to leave railway commission matters to experts. A new Nebraska Lighting Co. owner spoke on local plant upgrades, and a resolutions committee was appointed to honor the Catholic Workmen lodge.

Plattsmouth Club Applauds Grand Lodge Visit and Welcomes Return

The Plattsmouth Commercial club on January 23 1943 unanimously resolves to honor the Grand Lodge of Catholic Workmen for selecting their city for the convention. Y M C A Money to be Returned and Honored

The Y M C A committee that raised funds for a city building closed matters with G C Parmele, who pays back 1500 dollars and takes the Wetenkamp property mortgage. Subscriptions will be refunded upon presentation. The plan to create a Y M C A building was dropped due to lack of local support.

Moves to Coleridge Mrs O V Virgin Leave For New Home

Mrs. O V Virgin arrives this morning from Murray and departs on No 15 for Coleridge Nebraska where they will establish a future home. Mr Virgin left recently for that place with household goods and live stock. We regret their departure from Cass county but wish them happiness and prosperity in their new home.

Mrs Leyda hosted the Social Workers of the M FE curgh yesterday afternoon. The event included a business session, social conversation, and needlework with music between, followed by a delicious luncheon.

Two Farm Residences Destroyed by Fire

Fire swept two farm residences today. The Gregory farm of J B Murray near Cedar Creek burned destroying the house and contents with occupants away. The other home known as the Roman place on A Tripty land near the old fair grounds also burned with insured loss and unknown cause.

Miss Alice Dovey to Star in The Pink Lady in Omaha

The Omaha Daily News reports Miss Alice Dovey will appear in The Pink Lady at Brandeis on February 2. She and sister Ethel Dovey from Plattsmouth are set for a strong Omaha ovation as Alice holds a leading role in the original production led by Pavel Dawn.

Delightful Social Meeting at St Pauls Church

The Ladies Aid society of St Pauls church held its regular soci meeting at the home of Mrs Auguste Martens yesterday afternoon. A large number attended and spent the time in games and social conversation. Coffee and coffee cake were served and greatly enjoyed. About 5 30 the gathering dispersed with thanks to Mrs Martens for her hospitality.

The state County Treasurer association issued its program with County Treasurer W K Fox listed among speakers. He will share experiences from his duties as treasurer. The meetings run in Lincoln from January 28 to January 30.
