The council considers a west side request for a Missouri Pacific subway on Malden Lane. They discuss city-finance items, gas lamp care, and a $850 library reference book appropriation, with library board input sought and street repairs planned.

From Tuesday's Daily the week of Organized Agriculture at Lincoln January 20 24 features a series of farmer banquets. Monday opens with the Corn Growers banquet at the Lindell hotel followed by two banquets Tuesday the Harticulural Society and the Nebraska Association of County Fairs at the Lindell and the Lincoln Gommerical club. Wednesday hosts the official Organized Agriculture banquet with Dean Chas e. Bessey guest of honor and a reception. Thursday night the Live Stock Breeders carnival at the same hostelry. Friday ends with the Farmers Institute banquet at the Lindell and a mock Farmers Institute adding humor to the week.
The First National Bank of this city announces the election of officers for the coming year. President George K. Dovey, Vice President Frank E. Schlater, Cashier N. Dovey, and Directors G. Dovey FR Schlater G Kappil N Dovay Dr BE W Cook will guide the bank. The bank reports good business and declares the customary dividend.
T H Pollock becomes owner of the Ambrose Patterson property on High School Hill. He plans extensive updates including new plumbing and interior and exterior decorating. The current Pollock residence is sold to James Sage.
W. G. James of Omaha representing the Modern Woodmen of America is in the city today to attend to order matters. He is a prominent state deputy who organized a large class here two years ago and has consistently secured new members for the order.
The board of county commissioners holds its first meeting of the new board at the courthouse with Chairman Jordan presiding. They will begin soon reviewing county officials, a task expected to occupy their attention for some time.
Mrs Anna Weekbach Roth died after months of illness at her home Elm and Koenig Grand Island. She was born at Plattsmouth Neb married to Fred Roth in 1890 and leaves three daughters Lydia 17 Clare 15 and Dorothy 12 her mother five sisters and five brothers. Funeral set for Tuesday at 9:30 am at St Marys Catholic Church with Father Wolf officiating.
John Meisinger Jr and wife brought their son Harvey home after a second operation for a lingering ailment. The previous surgery did not yield satisfactory results and doctors recommended another procedure. Harvey will remain with his grandfather Jacob Meisinger until he can return home, while his mother stays to care for him.
A bill to force drivers to stop before crossing railroad tracks in Nebraska is likely to be introduced this session. Rail unions and railroads back the measure as part of a broad safety push, citing hairbreadth escapes and rising driver risk. John Urish Bert Urish and Henry Urish delivered a four year old Percheon stallion by rail from Murray to Ottumwa Iowa, then to Minnesota for breeding. They plan a second horse from Fremont Iowa within a week, weighing about 1,000 pounds and described as one of the finest shipped from the city recently. Henry Urish remained briefly before returning home.
The Servant in the House, staged at the Parmele theater on Friday night January 17, drew high praise from the Washington Post after its Washington DC premiere. The review lauds Charles Rann Kennedy for sharp English and a purposeful drama that challenges hypocrisy.
Stockholders formed Kahler Wattery company in Louisville to manufacture and sell flower pots vases and fancy ware. Authorized capital 5000 dollars. Officers: Thos E Parmele president Phil H Kahler vice president and general manager James Stander secretary treasurer. Directors include Thos B Parmele B Pautsch Phil H Kahler A J Hoover and James Slander. Building partly erected but frost delays kiln work and completion hinges on fair weather. Louisville Courier reports cautious progress.
News from Glenwood Iowa announces the arrival of a fine baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. Art Evans at their home. The child was born Saturday January 11 and is welcomed by Pearl O Neill, formerly Miss Pearl O Neill, with family kinship noted. Relatives, including Crindpn O Neill, celebrate as first grandchild and an object of pride.
Prom Wednesday's Daily reports the Rich ards Peters contracting firm of this city closed a highly successful season, grossing about 40000 and paying 10000 in labor to Plattsmouth men. Most profits passed through local banks, boosting city business and optimism for even larger building activity ahead.
