Board selects new superintendent in Nebraska City

The board of education announced the selection of N. Abbott as superintendent of the city schools. Abbott, formerly principal at another district, is praised for modernizing work and is expected to lead the Caldwell Is district to continued success. His wife, formerly Miss Esha Grabill, will also return to the city, a cause of much satisfaction among patrons.

Lecture before the Young Men's Bible Class

Allan G. Wilson gave a highly regarded lecture on the history of writing from ancient stone carvings to the Bible. The event closed with a tribute to the Holy Bible and a half hour of informal music by class members.

Suit started to regain bill board east of B and M depot

A replevin suit was filed in county court by Kaspar Kasprick company through Omaha lawyer Thomas Nosenfeld seeking recovery of a bill board east of the Bearlington depot. The city is said to be using the property without rightful ownership and the case was set for trial to determine ownership and rights.

Death claims Plattsmouth pioneer James Hodgett

James Hodgett, longtime Plattsmouth resident and Scottish immigrant, died at age 60 after a long illness. A cabinet maker and contractor, he helped build many local structures and was remembered as kindly and trustworthy. Survived by his wife Margaret and daughter Margaret, the funeral will be held at his home with Rev. M. W. Lorimer officiating.

Parcel Post Law Changes Waterproof Small Town

The parcels post law taking effect January 1 introduces tiered rates by distance, with up to 11 pounds allowed and 4 ounce minimum weight rules.
