County Farm Bureau Holds Annual Meet

The twentieth annual Cass county Farm Bureau meeting drew about 150 people to the Methodist church auditorium in Weeping Water. Hostilities focused on progress in agriculture, extensions work, and 4-H achievements with remarks by John B. Kaffenberger and J. M. Quackenbush, plus reports from extension staff and 4-H leaders.

Knights Templar Elect Don Seiver Commander

Candlelight Vespers Grace First Presbyterian Church

Sunday service at 5 pm drew a large congregation with blue lit trees and candelabrum decor. The choir, organ solo by Miss Knorr, violin by David Fowler, and vocalists performed Christmas selections under careful staging coordinated by Mrs. L. L. Wiles and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt.

Stock Dividend Declared by Plattsmouth Building Association

Plattsmouth Loan and Building association declares a 4 percent dividend on paid up stock and 5 percent on installment stock. Dividend checks will be ready by tomorrow to distribute before Christmas. Reserve exceeds 50 percent and loans have risen materially. Annual meeting set for Tuesday evening January 3.

Young couple united in Presbyterian ceremony

Vernon Gustav Harms of Auburn wed Virginia Pearl Maxey of Brock Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian manse with the Rev. H G McClusky officiating. Mrs McClusky and Mrs Wiley Sigler witnessed the ceremony.

Santa Claus Visits Plattsmouth in 1938 City Event

Santa Claus arrived by river and procession through Plattsmouth Cass county drawing about 3000 residents. Mayor Lushinsky presented the city key as King Frank A. Cloidt and Queen Martha Kaffenberger attended. 1400 treats were distributed to children at the Journal building east room amid police crowd control.

Bethel No. 24 of the Job's Daughters hosted a dinner at First Methodist church parlor with a Christmas theme. A class of six was received during the following meeting in the Masonic building, featuring songs by Jeanette Wetenkamp and Margaret Ann Vallery, a welcome by Shirley Seiver, and remarks by Rev. J. Visit With Injured Son William Vallery Amputation Victim

Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Vallery returned home from Kearney after visiting their son William. He suffered a severe accident last Tuesday when his arm was torn off at the elbow requiring amputation. He is bruised but recovering and may be moved soon to the infirmary at the state industrial school.

Community Choral Sing At Courthouse Lawn In Winter

Residents and Plattsmouth students filled the courthouse lawn for a Tuesday night choral event. The high school band and city church choirs joined a school chorus in Christmas carols directed by David Fowler. Clergy members delivered the invocation, Christmas reading, and benediction.

Impressive Nativity Pageant At First Methodist Church

The First Methodist church held a candle lit Christmas service Sunday at 5 p m showcasing a Nativity scene on stage. About fifty five participants acted as angels shepherds wise men Joseph and Mary with blue star light illuminating the leading angel.

Philathea Class Elects New Officers at Church Meeting

The Philathea class of the Methodist church elected officers during Sunday services. Mrs. Fred Howland became president with Mrs. Glenna McMahen as vice president and Mrs. George Brinklow as secretary treasurer. Mrs. Tom Cacy was chosen as corresponding secretary, while C. C. Wescott will continue as teacher.
