Citywide burglaries reported including Lamphere cafe and high school

Last night burglars looted the Lamphere cafe on South 6th Street and forced the high school superintendent L. Devoe office safe. Entry came through the Eagles recreation room and through a broken window to the art room. The safe was chiseled open and a small sum linked to school funds taken pending exact tallies. Police and deputies inspected the scene and checked for fingerprints.

Funeral of A F Knofliceek at Holy Rosary Church

The funeral of the late A F Knofliceek was held at 8:30 this morning at Holy Rosary church on West Pearl Street. Rev Father J J Kaczmarek led the requiem mass and blessings. Music was provided by Grace Leidy Berger and Henrietta Reese with two pieces, and John J Croidt sang two songs. Interment followed at Catholic cemetery with Sattler funeral home in charge.

Edgerton Goes to Hospital for Omaha Operation

A. E. Edgerton Cass county re employment director departed for Omaha for surgery to treat a long standing lockjaw problem. Friends hope the operation will relieve the condition and allow him to return home in better health.

Dr and Mrs John Stuart Egenberger of Omaha were in the city Thursday evening for dinner at Dr Egenberger's parents Mr and Mrs L B Egenberger and a pleasant family visit. They returned to Omaha later that night.

Jury awards 1500 in Baldwin versus Steckley case

The district court jury returned a verdict for plaintiff Mable E. Baldwin against Ed G. Steckley for 1500 dollars. The suit covered damages from an accident in Weeping Water where a minor riding to school was struck by Steckley’s truck, causing a skull fracture and a broken leg.

Plattsmouth group entertained at Peru State Teachers College in an all around delightful convocation. The Four with Frank A. L S S Devoe showcased a magic act that thrilled students as Dean Delzell, a noted schoolman, visited with Esther his daughter formerly a teacher at the local high school.

Former Resident Herman Richter Dies in Denver

News of Herman Richter death reaches Plattsmouth. He lived here many years and worked in local factories before moving to Dakota and Denver. He last visited four years ago to bury his wife. His body to be brought here for interment with Sattler Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Texaco Station Owner Leaves for Fort Wayne

Chester E. Welshimer owner of a Texaco filling station at Chicago avenue and the Louisville road departed Wednesday night for Fort Wayne Indiana. He was summoned by the illness of his father F. M. Welshimer age 82 who sustained a severe fall causing a fractured hip and whose condition is serious. The elder Welshimer is in Lutheran hospital at Fort Wayne.

Plattsmouth Chamber Holds December Directors Meeting

The Plattsmouth chamber of commerce bi monthly meeting drew strong attendance as members reviewed club business. A pamphlet on auto fatalities circulated at lunch and speakers discussed Plattsmouth's future while postmaster F L Cummins shared office notes. The group voted a $30 Santa Claus program gift and slated annual officer elections for January 2 1936.

Death of Herman Gartleman 63 at city home

Herman John Gartleman, 63, died this morning at his south city home after a seven year illness. He lived in the city 28 years and worked 20 years for Burlington in local shops before retiring. He was married to Nettie Kinnamon, who survives. Funeral services Sunday at 2 20 PM at his south city home, Satler funeral home in charge.

Marriage at Court House Unites Barnhouse and Hostetter

Lucy M. Barnhouse of Hamburg Iowa and Arthur Hostetter of Pacific Junction Iowa wed Wednesday at the court house. Judge A H Duxbury officiated and the couple returned to their Iowa home after the ceremony. Witnesses were Lucille and Emma Hostetter.

Cass county schoolmen gathered at Murdock to be hosted by Superintendent P T Johnson and the Murdock faculty. Kief Makes First State Visit to Beatrice Aerie

Arthur Kief worthy president of the state Fraternal Order of Eagles returned from Beatrice after visiting the Beatrice aerie Wednesday night. He announced plans to visit other aeries across the state and praised the local group for its initiation readiness and strong efforts.

Christmas Vacation for Plattsmouth Schools

The Plattsmouth city schools will close for Christmas at the end of Friday's session, December 20, and reopen at 9 a.m. on January 2 after a Christmas convocation at 3 p.m. on December 20. The schedule allows a two day spring vacation.

A musical program at the Nebraska Masonic Home hosted by Eastern Star chapter 189 featured city talent. Performers included Mrs. R W Knorr and Mrs. L S Devoe in piano duets, the Rotary quartet with Frank Cloidt and others, tenor and bass solos, a reading by Miss Bernierce Wieland, and a closing good night song by Marjorie Devoe.

Charles Richards Jr Dies From Injuries After Accident

Charles Richards Jr aged 20 died Sunday at 2 45 PM in University Hospital Omaha after injuries from a Friday night auto crash with a northbound Missouri Pacific bus on the Orenpolis overpass. He had been treated since the wreck and received a blood transfusion Saturday. Survived by wife Marie Stokes and two children Albert and Donna Lou, parents, one sister Mrs E O Howe, and moved from Plattsmouth where he was born August 21 1905.
