Preacher from Chesterton Stirs St Pauls Church

Rev. Robert Nienkamp of Chesterton Missouri delivered a fine sermon at St Pauls Evangelical Church, impressing the congregation. The Rotary Club at First Methodist church hosted its Fifth Tuesday Ladies night with a dinner in the parlor and a main auditorium program by Cass county youths. Mr and Mrs Garold Holcomb of Kankakee Illinois returned home Sunday after attending the funeral of H G Soennichsen and visiting old friends. Holcomb, superintendent of Kankakee water plant, has a building program starting today at the plant, curtailing the visit and disappointing many friends.

Legion Leader Milo Fulton Hospitalized For Rheumatism

Milo Fulton junior vice commander of the local American Legion post was taken to Lincoln today by H L Gayer to enter the U S Veterans hospital. Fulton has suffered rheumatism for some time and his condition required hospitalization.

Baskettball Days Here for Plymouth High Season Opener

Plymouth high school opens its basketball season this week with a Thursday 4 PM game against Union first and second teams. On Wednesday December 7 Omaha Technical teams visit for a 4 PM tip. December 14 features Weeping Water at 8 PM versus Platters, with fans eager for a strong matchup. A Christmas vacation game Friday December 30 ends the local schedule at 8 PM against Omaha Technical.

The twelfth district convention of the American Legion of Nebraska held in Plattsmouth proved a great success reflecting credit on the Plattsmouth post. Delegates heard talks on veterans affairs and employment from state officers and officials, and 1939 convention hosts were selected as Weeping Water.

Cass County Students at State University

Cass County is represented by 112 students at the University of Nebraska this semester. Plattsmouth leads with 26 students, followed by Weeping Water, Elmwood, Louisville, Nehawka, and others, with many in engineering and ROTC programs. Several Plattsmouth entrants are active in fraternities, bands, and service clubs. Elmwood and Beatrice also contribute notable delegates.

Automatic Counter Installed on Highway 71

The state highway department is installing an automatic counter on Highway 71 just south of Union corner to record traffic. A ray beam across the road is broken by passing vehicles, registering the daily count of cars and trucks.

District Court Notes on Busche Meisinger Appeal and Rogge Suit

In district court John H. Busche versus W. H. Meisinger the plaintiff moved to continue the case over the term and was granted by Judge Wilson. A separate quiet title suit titled Anna and John Rogge versus Harry McLaughlin et al. was filed with Clerk C. E. Sedgway.
