The Iowa Nebraska Light and Power Co announces construction of gas mains from the local gas plant to the Missouri Valley Pipeline main line to connect city service with natural gas. Legion Picnic Draws County Families at Baker Park
The Cass county American Legion posts held their annual picnic Sunday at Baker park south of Weeping Water with Nehawka and Plattsmouth sending the largest delegations. Attendance was light due to rain threats, but families enjoyed a sunny afternoon of picnic meals and a sports program directed by County Commander Eugene Nutzmann. The land is owned by Mr. Baker, who offered use of the grounds, and organizers considered a future picnic at the same site.

Descendants of Mr and Mrs John Bock longtime Cass county pioneers gathered August 17 at Nehawka home of Mr and Mrs George Hansen for the annual reunion. Dense smoke filled the Taplett Sweet Shop in the Frigidaire plant area this morning. D. O. Dwyer family upstairs raised the alarm, waking Mr. Taplett and his son. The motor burned out, fuse blew, and a Omaha repairman was needed delaying fountain operations.

Lutherans to Convene North Nebraska District Convention
More than 200 representatives of the northern Nebraska district of the Missouri Synod will attend the annual convention in Columbus from August 20 to 26. All sessions occur at Christ Lutheran church with 95 pastors, 35 to 40 teachers, and about 85 delegates. Principal speakers include Rev. F. J. Lankenau of Napoleon Ohio and John F.
