Death of John Hobscheidt Shocks Murray Community
John Hobscheidt Sr. died unexpectedly, found at his home Saturday evening by neighbors Henry Horn and Louis Reinackel after entering the unlocked house. Born May 10, 1859 in Alsace Lorraine, he had lived in the Murray area most of his life with his son John Jr. and family nearby. Surviving are his son and brother Michael. two prior wives preceded him in death. the death is attributed to natural causes with peaceful passing expected in the early morning hours.

Boy Injured At Track Meet As Discus Struck Head
John Elliott a 13 year old spectator was seriously injured when a discus hit the back of his head during a track meet at Athletic Park. The wooden discus caused a deep gash and he was knocked down. Lincoln reports Cass County is allotted 36 men for forestation work. A committee selects recruits aged 18 to 25, single with dependent parents. Recruiting is set for April 29 at the county courthouse. Selected men may be sent later for medical exams and training. They will be paid 30 dollars monthly, with portions sent to dependents. Funeral for John Hobscheidt Sr. Held at St. John's
The funeral of John Hobscheidt Sr. was held at St. John’s Catholic church at 9:30 this morning. He lay in state last evening at the old Murray home before services. Father George Agius celebrated the requiem mass and consoled the bereaved. The body was buried in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Read, John Cildidt, John Ferris, Doc Long, A. G. Bach and Louis Reinackle.
