YMCA Discovery Camp Opens in Plano for Young Children

Crime Rate Drops For Second Month
For the second straight month crime was down 8 percent in May from 1976 levels, with a 14 percent drop in April. The city grew 16 percent in that period, police say, though May crime rose 6 percent versus April. Total major crimes reached 197, including 22 assaults and 52 burglaries. Police recovered 83 percent of stolen property valued at about 82 thousand dollars, and 34 percent of offenses were solved. Juvenile and adult arrests numbered dozens for burglary, narcotics, DUI and other offenses.

Police Officer Completes FBI Training
Lt. Daniel O Williams, an eight year veteran, graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico Va last week. He led patrol, criminal investigation and administrative services and will receive a future assignment. He completed ten weeks of courses including behavioral science criminal law and forensic science. Sgt Ronald L Smitheart also graduated from the academy in December 1976. Police Chief Duane Kinsey aims to send more officers to the academy.
