Tax Board Sets Meeting Dates in Collin County

The Collin County Commissioners Court will meet as the Board of Equalization starting 1:30 p.m. Monday June 28, with sessions daily through the week and into subsequent weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for petition hearings. Call Helen Starnes at 1542-2411 for appointments.

School trustees will study the 1976 77 budget in a Tuesday evening session at the School Administration Building. An 8 p m public session follows an 7 30 p m executive session to review minutes approve a budget report and hear various agenda items.

Lone Star Gas rate hike near approval by city council

City officials plan to approve an ordinance granting Lone Star Gas a modest increase over interim rates. The company sought a 40 percent rise, but the measure reportedly yields a smaller average, with a six step schedule and a first MCF charge around 2.80 dollars followed by lower per MCF rates. Dale Williamson noted he had not seen the ordinance to estimate consumer impact.

Plano reports May burglary drop and rising city crime

Plano Police Department crime report shows 53 burglaries in May down from 63 in April, while overall offenses rose 29 percent from May 1975. Assaults led gains with 17 incidents, thefts up 6 percent. auto theft fell 42 percent. Seizures, entry methods, property values, and arrests by age and offense are detailed, with city officials outlining budget and public works plans for the period.

County Roads Striping Set for 423 Miles in Local Counties

Final plans approved for 423 miles of highway striping in Collin Dallas and Denton Counties. Perma-Line Corp awarded contract at 312 19786 dollars. Work begins week of June 21 in Collin County, finished by late August. Traffic detours and advance warning signs will guide motorists during operations.
