County Due 2.5 Million and Federal Share for Collin County

Treasury data show 25.6 billion revenue sharing will funnel funds to Texas and its communities over four years. In the coming year Texas and localities will receive about 334 million dollars, with Collin County among the beneficiaries. The funds may be used for government services and public projects as authorized by the bill.

The Treasury reports a $25.6 billion revenue sharing payout, with the 1977 local share about $2.493 million per county and Collin County at $27.28 per capita. States vary from $24.43 to $42.86 per person, Chicago leads among largest cities, and restrictions on use are lifted starting Jan 1 while nondiscrimination rules remain.

Two Car Wrecks Injure Three on US 75 Thursday

Three people were injured in two separate crashes on US 75 Thursday morning. Alvina Gade of Waverly Iowa and Donald Dyer of Lewisville were the principal drivers in the first collision, with Gade and a passenger treated and released. Sammy Durton and Sonn Walker of Terrell sustained serious injuries in a later tie up related crash.

Hill Knocks Death Row Statements

Seven Arrested by Plano Police on Wednesday

Plano police arrested seven persons including a 56 year old traffic warrant suspect a 15 year old charged with assault an 18 year old with Richardson and Plano warrants a 14 year old for criminal mischief a 28 year old on a Garland larceny warrant a 17 year old DUI offender and a 34 year old with a Dallas County theft warrant. Officers also investigated two motor vehicle burglaries two residential burglaries two material thefts two bicycle thefts and a license plate theft. The department responded to 64 calls and investigated five accidents. A collision at Highedge and Bluffton involved a 1967 Dodge and a 1977 Cadillac. A Parker Road collision involved a 1971 Pontiac and a 1975 Pontiac.

Pay Plan Proposed by Texas Teachers Association

The Texas State Teachers Association urged the legislature to pass a school finance plan totaling 1.4 billion for 1977 to 78, including 850 million for teacher pay raises of 25 percent. Governor Briscoe and the House education panel have not funded raises in their plans, which total 850 million and 1.2 billion respectively, excluding raises.

Commission Opposes Abilene and Southern Line Abandonment
