Plainfield High School basketball defeated Pittsboro 26 to 27 in a hard fought season opener. Coach Sanger uses three fast forwards Sellars Glenn and Franklin while Wilson Newby and Heringlake anchor the defense. Center Pike shows potential as a rising threat. Next game at North Salem is set for next Wednesday.

Friday Club Officers' Day Observed at Home of President

The Friday Club held Officers' Day at Mrs. Warren Duke's home. A benefit luncheon featured fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, lima beans, Parker house rolls, jelly, pickles, perfection salad, ice cream, cake and coffee. New officers installed include Mrs. B C Vestal as vice president, Mrs. Joseph Spear as recording secretary, Mrs. Charles Vestal as corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Alva Harvey as treasurer. twenty six members attended.

President's Day of the Woman's Club Observed at Library

The first general club meeting of the season was held Saturday afternoon in the library assembly room. retiring president Mrs. Alice B. Charles presided until new officers were installed, including President Mrs. Charles Symons and Vice President Mrs. Harvey Hessler. Miss Helen J. Sartor entertained with readings from Tartington and Ben Hur, and other performances followed with songs, piano numbers, and a social hour featuring rose ice cream and napiscos amid a gardenlike decor of marigolds.

The Senior High held a pep meeting with 45 students and introduced Lloyd Brewer as the new yell leader proving small size can carry big energy. Miss Deweese offered to serve as song leader. a double quartet and sophomore girls chorus were organized. Bertha Creek spoke on Chinese schools. the school mourned the Dixon children and Nellie Wright with floral tributes.
