Earlham College marks its Diamond Jubilee with a four day program from Sunday to Wednesday. Events include a baccalaureate sermon by Elbert Russell a sacred concert an address by President Edwards May Day celebrations with a May pole pageant and Morris dances the Earlham pageant In Quest of Freedom and a commencement address by Henry Churchill King. Indiana University Commencement Week Festivities
Commencement week at Indiana University featured a baccalaureate sermon on Sunday and a commencement address on Wednesday. A campus Memorial pageant Tuesday drew thousands of alumni and guests, followed by the Jordan River Revue. Edith Barker received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Local residents Wendell Stevenson Portia Cooper Irene Duffey and Martha Belle Frazier spent the year at IU and have returned home. Plainfield residents attended several events.

Lois and Lenna Stanley daughters of Mr and Mrs John Stanley living south of town received the letters O for basketball skill at Olney boarding school Barnesville Ohio. Six letters were awarded this year from among 40 aspirants. Lois who just graduated from Olney last week won her first letter last year.

Kelsey to Inspect Near East Relief Work Abroad
Mead A Kelsey state secretary for Near East Relief sails from New York on June 10 aboard the S S New York to form a commission. They will inspect conditions in the Near East starting in Constantinople then Transcaucasia Beirut and Jerusalem. Prosperity Special trains through Plainfield to St Louis
The largest single train ever hauled across the country passed Plainfield on its way from Philadelphia to St Louis. Jordan's Condition Hopeful After Accident
Orla Jordan injured in an accident two weeks ago is reported to be fairly well at Methodist Hospital. The doctor notes infection in the wound and a high temperature, but says these conditions are expected. Dr. Omer Jordan of Missouri, his brother, visited on Saturday.

Deaths in the Community Mrs Pointer and Mrs Schmidt
Mrs Pointer widow of W M Pointer died Sunday at the Joppa home. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with interment at Mooresville. Mrs Hazel Malone Schmidt aged 32 died in Louisville Kentucky and was brought home for burial. Funeral services were held Monday with interment at Maple Hill.
