Dr. Lewis urged organized practical association work focusing on care for girls and young women. He traced Y M C A history from London 1844 to the United States, urging missions beyond church borders and describing current U S and Canada associations, finances, and reach.
The Fanwood Committee held another meeting on the proposed trolley. A motion favored leaving the Midway route with the loop extended to Front street, the Methodist Church, and the depot. Johnston heirs consented to a right of way through their land but not Mountain avenue. Sacr Kyte offered $500 if the trolley proceeds.
Citizens discuss forming a cremation and sanitary society in the city with Borough Counsel A Reed among supporters. The Somerset County District Medical Society considered the idea in Somerville within the past year and a standing committee continues to pursue a meeting to organize the group.
William Arthur and his son David moved from Woodbridge to North Plainfield and faced warrants for larceny from William Oppenheimer. Police arrested them in Woodbridge and held them overnight, then transported them back.
Rev. Joseph Stockbridge died at his home 320 South Forty-second Street Philadelphia from diabetes in his 84th year. He served as a chaplain in the U S Navy for over thirty years and had been largely ailing the last two years. Funeral services are set for Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia with interment at Hillside. A brief service will be held Thursday morning at the residence of Mrs Sarah A Green on Park Avenue.
Yesterday at North Platefield public school the Junior class debated whether the blacksmith has done more for civilization than the carpenter. The affirmative won but the dispute over whether a dead blacksmith in a machine shop should be foreman grew heated. Principal Boss halted further Junior class debates.
Mr Edward White reports a major store upgrade introducing six new glass front show cases in two sections. The entire fronts are glass marking a new idea and he claims to be the first in Plainfield to feature them.
Miss Mary E Dumont daughter of Mr and Mrs William H Dumont of Piaderne married Andrew Gross Slevin of Franklin Place in St Marys Church A large fashionable congregation attended The ceremony featured organ music and traditional marches The couple planned a wedding breakfast at Albion Hotel then board the 1.14 train for New York and the South for their honeymoon They will reside at 330 Franklin Place with home dates December fifth and twelfth

Edna Kline dies at North Plainfield at age three. County Clerk Howard plans resignation from the Board of Freeholders in December. Peter Emmons hosts a whist gathering on Jackson avenue. Charles Hall returns from Matteawan after a 50 mile trip. George Moore and James Atwood visit Lambertville to inspect G A R posts. The funeral of Theodore Gambling held at West Fifth Street with hymns by a local quartet. Caroline J. Butler of Lawrence Mass weds Rev. John A. Latham of England at the bride’s home. he is an Oxford graduate and will be at Worsthorne, Burnley.
Henry Wilson of Welshton Florida says he cured a long standing diarrhea in six hours using Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhea Remedy. The note claims such cures are common with this remedy with one or two doses often sufficient. Sold by Reynold's Pharmacy Park and North avenues and T S Armstrong Manager.
West Seventh street boys held a field day yester day with multiple events and notable times. J Taylor won the 100 yard dash with D Wright close behind, L Hilman excelled in shot put and standing broad jump, and L Hilman led bicycle events with 44 second mile, while D Wikoff claimed pole vault and running high jump top spots. Bart and Egan, both seven, triumphed in the three legged race as starter Webster Littell and timer L Woodruff oversaw the meet.
Numerous pastors announce sermons and lectures across Grace Church Music Hall Park Avenue Baptist M Zion and First Presbyterian Church Tomorrow. Speakers include Rev Dr Sleeter Rev Richards George W Bain Rev J Ricardson Rev C E Herring Rev De Jocelyn Johnstone and Rev Herbert F Randolph with diverse themes from Mercifulness to The Pilgrimage of a Soul. The Central road releases a Winter schedule effective Monday. The 343 pm Philadelphia train will not stop here or at Bound Brook, and there is no Philadelphia service from 1045 am to 645 pm. Passengers can use 2.08 am or 2.24 pm, or 5.36 pm to reach 5.56 pm. The 343 pm train served Plainfield daily. The station name will shift to Clinton Avenue.
The Ep worth League sociable at Grace M E Church drew a good crowd last evening. The program featured mandolin and autoharp solos by the Downey brothers, a recitation by Miss Edna French, and recitations and singing by Miss Lillian Epper. Refreshments followed and the event concluded with social mingling.
