Executors of George H. Babcock seek the Court of Chancery to settle a knotty claim from 1891 and 1893 codicil regarding the will. The estate totals about 1 1/2 million with Mrs Babcock's one third share. a row of houses valued at 60 000 is in question before debts. The suit is friendly to resolve a doubtful point and avoid litigation.
The young son of Marshall Wilson on Chatham street recovers from diphtheria. Mrs H Deike of Grove street travels to Pittsburg for her father’s funeral. George Bogert from Chicago plans to settle here with his mother on East Second street. Mrs M E Edgerton on Front street hosts a luncheon. Martin Adelmann and Fred Belcher visit Newark’s Superintendent Adelmann. John Daly returns from Brazil after electrical work abroad. Emil Beekman, longtime local resident, is very ill at Centovel. The case of Leader vs Kratzel was tried before Justice Storms in Maire's Hall Danellengo. The jury returned a verdict for Leader for 35 dollars and costs after about half an hour of deliberation. Judge W A Coddington will appeal to a higher court and defense strategy focused on law rather than merits.
