The Fat Club held the season’s first informal dance in the club house with patronesses Mrs Townsend Mrs Dupee Mrs Rogers and Mrs Peck. Isler of Newark provided music as guests enjoyed bowling and billiards in the lower room amid a lively social start to the season.
An evening entertainment in the Babcock building featured Prof W E MacClymont P Conde and Walter A Hudson. The Republican City Executive Committee met at the Republican Association rooms on East Front street to call primaries to elect delegates for the City Convention on Thursday evening November 22. At the convention candidates for Mayor, Assessor, City Treasurer, three Commissioners of Appeal and two Board of Education members will be chosen. The Third Ward primary is next Monday evening and others on Thursday evening, with nominations of other city officers at these meetings.
A 19th century testimonial touts Gilmore's Aromatic Wine as a remedy after quinine failed. Rev W C Brooks notes his daughter suffered months of ague and chills that returned, but claims the wine provided a mediate and permanent cure.

A well known local youth went hunting near Bethel with a friend's valuable seller when a cotton tail appeared. The dog pursued and was killed, leaving the hunter stunned and reportedly paying for the loss.
