Expressmen's Ball at Turner Hall Draws Strong Turnout
The third annual ball of the United States Express Messengers was held at Turner Hall North Plainfield last evening and proved a pronounced success financially and in attendance. Prof O Reilly provided music for dancing which lasted until early morning. Elwood Staats directed the affair with James Carty as floor manager and John Rickert and Frank Rusyow on the reception committee.

Local Ladies Bicycle Club Formed In City
About a dozen women cyclists organized a ladies bicycle club. Miss Julia E Bulkley principal of the Public Schools was elected president Mrs John H French vice president and Miss Butler secretary and treasurer. Tomorrow afternoon the group will hold its first run to Westfield and return starting from East Fifth street.

A local review notes Ed Marble's Tuxedo show appeals with odd farce but mostly fails to satisfy fans of traditional darky acts. Italian Cabbage Thief Arrested Near Seoteh Plaina
Loza Marisa, an Italian, was caught stealing cabbage from John H. Thys' farm near Seoteh Plaina. Thys arrested the suspect after spotting him lifting a cabbage by the root, and the man was jailed. Justice Nash set Mansa to await Grand Jury action with $50 bail pending. Thys had reported long-term crop loss totaling about fifty heads of rabbitage. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia branch of the Woman's Board of Mission met for its twenty‑first annual meeting at Westfield with Mrs. Susan Haynes Ward presiding. speakers included Alice Freeman Palmer and others from New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, and beyond.

Woman caught with garden crops at cemetery plot
John C. Perdue, Superintendent of the Phillipsburg Cemetery, stopped a woman as she was leaving the inclosure and found she carried cabbages, potatoes and other vegetables. She showed him a plot at the foot of graves where she grew the produce, citing rich soil for growing vegetables.
