Manning automatic pneumatic electric block signal test
W T Manning chief engineer Pittsburg division Baltimore and Ohio Railroad plans a practical test of the Manning automatic pneumatic electric block at McKeesport to improve safety. The system drops to safety by gravity and can be operated by apron or semaphore levers with air power and foot levers. It includes an office bell register to show which block is up and separate levers for each track to prevent operator error. The design targets small stations and would curb sleep negligence by operators tied to rope blocks.
