Southern iron stocks edge lower amid steady demand
SOUTHEEN STOCKS LOWER SIRMINGHAM ALA June 2 The Iron trade is without special features this week Prices continue unchanged but there has been some falling off in orders this week All the furnaces in the district are shipping iron as fast as the railroad can supply them with cars and the end of the month will find stocks lower than they have ever been at this season The steady flow of mail orders during the 30 days exhausted all stocks on hand a took almost the entire June output Very little iron has been sold for delivery next month but furnaces are confident the small orders for immediate delivery will continue to come in all summer As matters now stand buyers of Southern Pig will pay 25 to 50 cents per ton more next month Only a falling off in orders or a reduction of sales Pennsylvania and Ohio furnaces will prevent an advance on No 1 and No 2 foundry iron On the lower grades there will probably be no advance Twenty two of the 35 furnaces in this district in Dias There will be no shutting down this year repairs See the ag 4 te w coke an area eee exhausted our ole seen Gouna furnaces it is said will be so changed
