A sewer work crew of five men at Red Pond was swept by a flood when a pond drop caved in after heavy rain. Two men survived with injuries, one died at Daly’s culvert, two later died at hospitals, and others were hospitalized as inquest set for July 27.

Pinkerton Guards Diverted From Homestead Plot

Pinkerton guards totaling about 200 men were quietly side-tracked near Sixteenth and Thirty-second streets. Four carloads were diverted away from Homestead and never served as detectives. A heavy rain last night blocked Citizens' Traction lines for about 30 minutes as mud and sand washed down Penn avenue, filling the vault at the power house near Thirty-fourth street. Word arrived in Allegheny yesterday that Charles B. Fulton aged 23, nephew of Rev Dr Fulton of the Fourth U P Church, was accidentally killed by a passing train at Glencoe on Saturday night. His father Dr Fulton was notified and will leave for Glencoe today.
