Great Plans for New Peach Orchards
A major Sandhills development is announced led by H. A. Page Jr, S. B. Saunders, J. R. Page, and Frank Page. The Gates Farm at Hoffman near Aberdeen, 5,000 acres, will form a corporation with $400,000 capital to plant the largest NC orchard, potentially the nation's. Broadacres aims to root 1,000 acres in time, with two thousand acres atop a Broad ridge, yielding a vast peach belt linked to Seaboard and Norfolk Southern lines. The plan envisions an almost continuous peach landscape from Yass to Marsden within five years, transforming the Sandhills into a major fruit region.
