Ross proposes two foot stymie rule to solve golf problem
Silas H. Strawn, president of the United States Golf Association in 1911 and 1912, will present Donald J. Ross’s plan at the January 14 Chicago meeting to keep the stymie but remove its fault. Ross argues raising the stymie distance from six inches to two feet eliminates impossible shots and preserves interest, a view tested with pros and amateurs on putting greens.
