Valentine's Tourney Finals Spark Interest After Long Matches

The Eighth Annual St. Valentine’s Golf Tournament finals delivered drama with matches stretching to nineteen holes. Top matchup featured Dr. C. H. Gardner of Agawam Hunt and C. N. Phillips of Greenwich Country Club, trading leads until Phillips halved the decisive eighteenth with a risky putt miscue. Consolation and other rounds produced zigzag results, with notable wins by Fink, Robeson, and Phillips advancing through semi finals and rounds. Young American Golfer editor visits Pinehurst tour

Master W. W. C. Griffin editor and proprietor of The Young American Golfer tours southern resorts, including Pinehurst. The magazine, small at five and a half by seven and a half inches, publishes a January issue of twelve pages priced fifty cents, with Griffin on the road to boost subscriptions and advertising.

Golf Club Team Defeats Carolina Employees in Bowling Match

On Tuesday, Golf Club and Carolina employees faced a similar group from The Carolina and won by ten pins. Charles H. Hymers earned the medal for the best three strings.

Reynard Leads Fox Hunt Then Outpaces Pack in Thrilling Chase

A large group of hunters including Mr. and Mrs. James T. Twitty and Miss Mundy enjoyed a week’s fox hunt with Reynard the fox leading the chase. Fourteen foxes were bagged on the first hunt as the hounds pursued through swamp and creekside cover. The pursuit ended when the fox was seen climbing a tree, then escaped as the dogs swarmed the area. report notes the hunt’s lively pace and concludes on page two.
