Pistols and Peril in North Carolina History
Quaint pistols from 1740 with silver butts rest in the Hall of History at the State Museum Raleigh. They were carried by Capt. Wad dell on campaigns from Fort Duquesne to the Regulators and later by General Waddell. The tale ties to Fort Johnston Brunswick and Fort Fisher with descendants like Col. Alfred Moore Waddell and Wilmington’s 1898 uprising against negro rule.
