A large party enjoyed a first important hunt hosted by J. F. Jordan of Greensboro at his Arlington cottage with his family. No fox was killed but the pack’s music signaled future sport for devotees, drawing Mrs. Jordan Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tufts Mrs. Herbert L. Jillson and others.
Mr Jordan’s pack tied for top in the All-age stake with Beck winning and Belle placing second in the Derby. The heat lasted over five hours, with ten dogs finishing and eight owned by Jordan among the finalists. Jordan, a longtime hound breeder, is tied to clubs and creeks of Virginia Carolina red bones and Kentucky Goodmans, with extensive hunting estates and partners in New York and New Jersey. Pinehurst area clubs assist in maintaining the hunting and fishing preserves near Creton Club and Manchester holdings. Rip Van Winkle toast salud to welcomed visitors.
A Munice Indiana host entertained a group of young friends for St Valentines Day. Guests included Cord Meyer Oakley Thorn William Woodward James Woodward D M Look W M Barnum A W Smith J H Smith A W Dickerman of New York William Du Pont of Wilmington Gen John Gill W M Baker of Baltimore and Misses Talbot Day Eloise Pauley Darthen Crocker Georgiana Partridge Catherine Grenier Miriam Hostetter Virginia Rinehart and young Hutchins with dogs trained by Mr Jordan in Greensboro North Carolina.
At The Magnolia Mr and Mrs Archdale Wilson and Miss Katharine Wilson of Hamilton Canada, guests for six weeks, departed Thursday for Philadelphia to spend February. Mr Wilson, a keen golfer, hopes to return to Pinehurst next season. The ladies led in several entertainments during their stay, and their return will be anticipated by many friends.
Widely known John Thomas concert company brings a varied program of songs recitals and peculiar person impersonations to the Village Hall on February twenty first. The cast includes John Thomas Annie Webster Thomas and Clare Stone with works by Saint-Saëns Gottschalk and others noted for pleasing the press. Tickets available at hotel desks and the local pharmacy at fifty cents and one dollar.
The third annual St. Valentine golf tournament is in progress with rounds ongoing. The Outlook goes to press, and a full story of the tournament will appear in next week’s issue.
Rev J F P Bullitt conducts vesper services at the Village Hall Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. Sermon by Rev Dr Lowry of the Atlantic City Baptist Church will be delivered.
